  • SCREAM 7 2026 Movie Review – Is It Worth Watching?

    Dis Drawma Kingg went to see Scream 7 last night. What moral do the Scream movies teach the audience? I can’t really think of one. However, there is another kind of message (assuming I interpreted the film 100% correctly). Primarily, they are trying to teach us a principle about physics: If you ever accidentally get hit in the head and knocked over while wearing a ghost mask, you’ll probably be able to get back up.

    My new theory is that the Scream franchise isn’t really just about standard human criminals. A supernatural element hovers in the air of this film universe. Ghost masks can’t normally protect us from that much damage! Is it an interdimensional cult of superpowered ghost masky people? They really should have explained exactly what is going on by the seventh installment.

    K, I’m gonna start talkin’ about something else. An old friend o’ mine said “Hey Drawma Kingg, why do you like movies so much?”

    Drawma Kingg: Just cuz they rule. We can talk about anything you want though.

    Friend: Like… checkers?

    Drawma Kingg: The board game? You play that a lot?

    Friend: No, it was just somethin’ that came to mind to talk about.

    Drawma Kingg: Oh, okay. So you don’t actually have anything to say about checkers?

    Friend: Hmmm, I guess I could say that checkers is kind of like life – in that we are always trying to leap over and become richer than one another.

    Drawma Kingg: Wow! I was not expecting that! You might have a point there, but I know NOTHING on the creation or origins of checkers!

    Friend: I can lend you some books!

    Drawma Kingg: You have books on the subject? I thought you didn’t actually care about checkers.

    Friend: I said I don’t PLAY checkers. Checkers is very important to me. I think about it all the time!

    Drawma Kingg: Is checkers really that deep?

    Friend: Yes, if you think about the varying psychology!

    Is It Worth Watching?: No. Maybe you already figured out that Scream 7 was completely uninteresting on account of the long non sequitur rant I just went on.

    Final Thoughts: 4/10 Crowns. I tried to think of anything positive to say about Scream 7, and the only thing I can pinpoint is the fact that Courteney Cox was in the film. CRASH, BANG, THWUMP, MUGTHWUMP!!! [3 hours later…] Ugh, I was running around the house in my Casper The Friendly Ghost mask when suddenly a chandelier fell on my head and knocked me unconscious! Did I just accidentally prove that the Scream franchise is incorrect in the assumed physics of wearing a ghost mask? Apparitional headgear does not protect your head any better than any other basic halloween mask! I was almost done with the episode before that chandelier rudely fell on me. This final bit was crucial though:

    So do you think Dis Drawma Kingg should become besties with my long lost friend or run far away? Apparently, they are also interested in chess, though in a reverse way — playing chess while refusing to think about it. I also refuse to think while I play chess! We could be evenly matched! 

  • SCANNERS 3: THE TAKEOVER 1992 Movie Review – Is It Worth Watching?

    Drawmakingg.com is a place for reviews of NEW and CLASSIC movies. For today’s episode, I wanted to review Scanners 3: The Takeover, which sadly does not fall into either of these two categories. You could certainly argue that the first Scanners is a classic movie. All the sequels are pretty obscure, so it would be quite a stretch to call any of them classics. There was only one solution. Dis Drawma Kingg must talk about Scanners 3: The Takeover from the perspective of OPPOSITE WORLD!

    In Opposite World – Scanners 3 (Takeover, The) was one of the biggest hit movies of 1992. There were no cheesy special effects in this film due to its enormous budget (one of the most expensive films ever made up to that point in the 90s). Director David Cronenberg won the Oscar for best director. Oh, I forgot to mention that in the Scanners franchise of Opposite World, Cronenberg directed all of the sequels and did not direct the original.

    I dislike the double-main-character aspect of Scanners 3. Wait, now I’m just talking in opposites. Back to PLANET EARTH for a second. What I thought was cool about the movie is that it basically had two equally main characters that have to battle each other at the end. Helena (portrayed by Liliana Komorowska) felt like the main character in the first half, then Alex (portrayed by Steve Parrish) felt like the main character in the second half.

    Is it worth watching on Earth?: Yes, for Liliana Komorowska strongly carrying the whole movie, especially in the first half.

    Is it worth watching on Opposite World?: What Cronenberg film isn’t worth watching?

    Final Thoughts: 7.5/10 Crowns. -7.5/-10 Crowns in Opposite World (I stoopidly presume). I was definitely expecting a much worse movie when I put it on my rectangular TV. Scanners 3’s other main strength was that it was not boring at all. Mostly every scene kept the story reasonably exciting. Before I go, Dis Drawma Kingg has a confession. I have never seen Scanners 2! I watched these movies out of order again just like I did in episode 28 with The Strangers: Chapter 2! Maybe that means I should do a future episode about Scanners 2, an absolute classic on Opposite World!

  • 28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE 2026 Movie Review – Why Did You Give Me That Sandwich?

    Why did you give me that sandwich? It was not a tasty sandwich. In my review of the third 28 Later movie in 2025, I complained that 28 Years Later would have been better without the intro and outro scenes about the Jimmy character. The rest of the movie had nothing to do with him and was really good! I deemed these intro/outro scenes – Da Sandwich! Well here we are in the sequel. What’s the point of this Jimmy character? Why did they make 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple? Was Da Sandwich created for a reason?

    The short answer is – not a very good one. You might say there were some good fixins in Da Sandwich though. Ralph Fiennes’ acting was exceptional, and his character was surprisingly likable. He seemed to have a love for music such as Duran Duran and Iron Maiden. I think I heard him say “Memento Mori” at the end which is the name of a Depeche Mode album too. I don’t think the writers were actually using it that way, but for the official cannon story I create in my overly drawmatic head, it was definitely a Depeche Mode reference!

    Otherwise, I found the movie so-so. There were plot threads that fizzled. One example: there were multiple conversations about the Teletubbies, but nothing was concluded on the matter. There was also an intriguing, yet unresolved, sub plot about an infected patient that Dr. Ian Kelsen (Ralph Fiennes) was treating. I thought this was going to go somewhere really exciting during the climax. Unfortunately, it did not.

    Why Did You Give Me That Sandwich?: I think the previous movie created Da Sandwich just to try to turn 28 Later into a bigger franchise with notable characters. However, SUPER SPOILER: neither Dr. Ian Kelsen nor Jimmy appear to make it out alive. So this franchise expansion kinda implodes in the end.

    Final Thoughts: 6/10 Crowns. Da Sandwich should have set up something a little better than 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. At this point, I am very lukewarm on all four of the 28 Later movies. I’ll still probably go see the next one though. Apparently mediocrity doesn’t stop me from giving movie franchises more money.
