  • THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE 2026 Movie Review – Is It Realistic?

My curiosity compelled me to see The Super Mario Galaxy Movie as fast as I could! I needed to know if the writers would be able to create a realistic portrayal of plumbers. How much overlap is there with writers and people who have worked at least one full day as a plumber? What are the odds that they found anyone with the knowledge to get it right? Let’s find out.

The main characters are brothers named Mario and Luigi. For some reason, they are constantly getting into physical altercations, such as jumping on people’s heads! If a plumber jumps on someone’s head in real life, police come knocking at their door. No police officers ever show up to investigate these Mario Twin characters (that first appeared in a Group X video). This, in my dramatic opinion, is the first solid piece of evidence that the movie is not a realistic window into the life of a plumber.

SUPER SPOILER PARAGRAPH: My favorite part of the movie was when Fox McCloud showed up! Dis Drawma Kingg was surprised to see him! I only knew the Mario Twins from the Group X video, but I was familiar with the Star Fox video game series. Unfortunately, Fox McCloud leads us to the most problematic plumber scene. Mario and Luigi are riding in Fox’s CONVERTIBLE interstellar spaceship. That’s right. They are moving fast enough to travel through galaxies in a spaceship with no top to cover them or seal in oxygen. Were they at least wearing space suits and helmets? Get this: No. I cannot believe zero staff members told the writers that plumbers don’t have a special ability to breathe in space!

Is It Realistic?: Absolutely not! I think it may have even been computer generated images instead of human actors.

Final Thoughts: 5/10 Crowns. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie gets a low rating for two main reasons. Firstly, all of the jokes were not funny. Secundius, the plot did not take any interesting turns. You could 100% predict everything that was going to happen. I am wondering if this film was only meant for kids. Maybe they weren’t actually trying to entertain adults. At any rate, I can assure you this movie was not meant to be used for documentary purposes when learning about plumbers.
